First and foremeost you must read all applications, directions, rules & regulations thoroughly. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask someone knowledgeable for help. Post a question HERE at GetSeenOnTV.com and they usually get answered right away.

Do extra research about the show of choice. Don't just watch the show but, do behind the scenes research (like you're doing now at GetSeenOnTV.com) and search google and more with key words like 'casting director American Idol' or 'casting tips, tricks and advice for...' You get the drift, right? If not ask GetSeenOnTV.com HERE and we'll help.

Be yourself! The number one response we hear time and again from all casting directors is to just be yourself. They know what they want and who they want and you might have pre-conceived ideas about what or who they want from past shows but, you never know. Also, being yourself will relieve anxiety, stress and nervousness. You don't have to act like something or someone you're not and try and carry it through weeks and weeks on a show. Eventually, your true self will come out anyhow so, just be comfortable and be yourself from day one.

Etiquette is important in most cases. This is where research will come in handy from specific show casting director's advice that you should research. Many shows want you to dress nicely, hip and updated. If you're trying to get on The Apprentice you wouldn't come dressed in Goth clothing. If you're trying to get on American Idol you wouldn't dress like you would if you were trying to get on The Apprentice either. Do your homework, it's not rocket science.

Be on time or, early. Never be late for a casting interview, ever.

If you're singing, playing an instrument, dancing or doing any act then be well-rehearsed. Practice, practice, practice. Again, do research to learn how to train your voice, relax, stage presence, etc. You can never be too prepared. Remember the old saying, "if you've failed to prepare, then prepare to fail."

Unless you are auditioning for a vile or otherwise less-than-moral show or role, then you should be polite to the casting and show staff, your competition and peers and all others around you. The show directors will not want to make a star out of somebody they don't like, unless it is for a rude role. Put yourself in a good, relaxed mood no matter what. If you're sick, depressed or angry at the time of the audition then you need to put those feelings at the back of your mind and get over it until the audition is over and you're on your way home; otherwise, you might just make your mood that much worse when you've lost the role.

Get educated if you're not already.  Take classes from accredited schools and institutions.  Read books, the internet, join associations, post your profile on casting sites and talk directly with professional casting companies to further inquire about the best approach to get seen on tv.

Relax. Be Prepared. Be yourself. Did we already say that?
